Baby Peanut

I got Peanut when she was only 5 weeks old. She was almost as small as a hamster. The first couple of weeks after we brought her home, I would warm her up in a heating blanket before bedtime, because she couldn't keep herself warm yet. I remember she cried and cried when she was put in her box alone at night, and it wasn't long before I broke down and put her in bed with me. I was a little worried about doing that at first because she was just so incredibly tiny, but it wasn't long before she was a top notch professional bed warmer.

Here's my tiny Peanut attempting to eat a meal without tipping over head first. She was so head heavy that her head would bob forward and her back legs would raise into the air as she was eating.

It's hard to believe that she used to be smaller than Mimi.

Some more baby Peanut...

Goofy Little Lupschki

Lupschki is a very interesting dog, to say the least. I catch him doing weird or goofy things at least once a day, but usually several times. Here he is sleeping in his food dish. I don't think he had even eaten recently. He just went over to his dish and decided to take a nap in it.

On more than one occassion...

Speaking of sleeping in weird places, here he is sleeping in the bookshelf. His other favorite spot is inside the shelves of our coffee table.

Another thing he likes to do is jump into the bathtub. He loves water, which is not unheard of for a dog, but most of the small dogs that my family has owned usually don't care for water.

And here he is in the empty bathtub, just begging for us to fill it with water.

Every Puppy Loves Mimi

Mimi is a grumpy, bossy old lady, but she has her sweet side too. Even though she tries to keep to herself, the other dogs seem to always want to snuggle up to her and give her love.

Ikey kisses! Just look at the excitement on her face.

That is the stern look of tolerance.

Mimi and Indie cuddle up... for a moment.

They may get grumpy with each other (and everyone else ), but Peanut and Mimi are each others favorite cuddle buddies...

And always have been.

Peanut Wearing Sweaters

My poor little Peanut's hair is sort short and fine that she gets really cold in the winter. If it's too cold, she will put on the brakes and flat out refuse to go outside, and that's a problem. Solution: sweater (aka: prosthetic fur).

Here she is modeling her ugly Christmas sweater. Not my first choice, but options were limited and she needed a fur substitute right away.

As soon I was able, I custom made this lovely little sweater for her. She's always quite excited to see it on cold days.

Friends of the Little Brown Dawgs

Here we have the friends of the Little Brown Dawgs. They are Ike and Indie; both are Miniature Bull Terriers and belong to my parents.

This is Ike. He only knows love, and needs constant attention to live. Mimi bosses him around despite the fact that he is about 30 lbs heavier than her.

This is Indie. She is more of a lone wolf, but does enjoy the company of her humans and other dogs. Lupschki is her best buddy, probably because he is the only one with more energy than her. They love to play together, but Ike is her main man (even though her favorite activity is to ignore him).

Here is a photo of the happy couple together. We joke that Indie is his mail-order child bride, because Ike is a few years older than her and she was shipped from Hungary.

The Other Little Brown

So, there is one other little brown dog I didn't mention. This is Mimi (or Meems for short).

She is just about 9 years old and belongs to my parents. She is so small (about 9 lbs), but she has a lot of attitude. Despite being the smallest, she bosses all of the other dogs around.

I think she is a little unsure of the camera in this one. Awww, look at those neck wrinkles... and that glare.

Here are Peanut and Mimi hanging out in their natural habitat, being a pair of grumpy old ladies.

Meet the Little Brown Dawgs

I have two little brown dogs. They are both miniature dachshunds.

This is Peanut. At just about 8 years old, she is my grumpy old lady. Last year, we decided to get a second dog so she would have puppy companion in the house. It turns out, she wasn't too excited about her new roommate.

This is Lupschki. He just turned a year old, and is too cute to be mad at. Unless, you are Peanut. In that case, his very existence is upsetting.
